I hate people who stare. If it doesn’t concern you, then move on.
Whoa,Jen! Hold up! Just because some of your other friends(I assume she’s not talking about Rita and Siggy in this case) were fair weathers friends doesn’t mean you aren’t a fair weather friend yourself. Georgia’s right. You had Rita and Siggy to fall back on too and would probably continue to have them if you didn’t act so haughty like you are now. And nice. she called you out because she saw right through your guise and now you’re trying to demean her . Real nice. If I could reach through my screen and slap you, I would.
On a completely different note. I love this comic. You’re doing excellent work. Can’t wait for the next update.
I wonder if something happened during college that caused Jen to become distant from them. Not trying to defend her, but maybe she went through something that we don’t know about yet.
That’s good point. I wonder that too now. Not that I’m defending her either, but I wonder how often she’s had people fade out of her life at low points only to reemerge when things are over. It happens a lot in real life.
Poor Georgia is too used to being on the defensive. And Jen’s conversational tactics….well they remind me of watching politicians; blustery and dominant, but without proper substance.
Georgia is clearly on the retreat so I think I can predict what is about to happen. (Spoilers) Jun is going to come back and tip to conversation. Jen will end up leaving in a huff (possibly after some dialogue including Jun).
….I’m practicing predicting stories and plot-lines so I can improve on the twists in my own writing.
Oh my! Jen, you are a certainly rude woman! I felt that offense. Makes me wonder why she’s taking such offense at being a fair weather friend
Well, this is a twist. I could be totally wrong, but…
“Keeping us at arms length”: Jen suffers from depression too. She just exhibits it differently. She wants to make herself feel better by getting a hot boy to like her. She pretends she doesn’t need anyone when inside she’s dying. Builds up a wall and puts everyone outside it so they can’t take anything away from her… because if they take anything she’ll be emptier than nothing.
If that’s the truth of it, I am so sorry for hating on her before.
This….is a twist I would not mind seeing happen. Not all people with depression are as quiet and knowingly self-conscious like Georgia. Although it would be sad to see another character with depression, it would open the way for Jen to receive character development.
