Fine Sometimes Rain Chapter 05 – P17
Oct05
Here’s Monday’s update! Also sorry I haven’t been around as much lately. This past week I had migraines 4 days in a row so I spent a lot of time sleeping. OTL I’ll try to get up with comments and such this week. Thanks for voting too btw!
Migraines are the worst. When I get them; I can’t lay down, look at computer screens or read, or even eat because I get nauseated and it comes back out. I’m not suppose to take ibuprofen (or any anti-inflammatory drug) because of another health issue of mine (Crohn’s Disease). All I can do that helps is drink lots of tea with honey. So, yeah……. they’re the worst.
For me, I try to deal with the pain with ibuprofen if it’s not making me nauseated, but if there’s nausea or if I have things to get done I end up taking an imitrex. They make me feel weird tough afterwards, but at least the pain and nausea goes away. I think it was partly that we had a sudden weather shift, warm and sunny to suddenly cold, rainy and fall like along with my monthly cycle going on which is why it was worse than usual.
My migraine trigger is usually dehydration.
I tend to deal with mine via rice bag. It’s a soft flannel bag about 6″x12″, filled 2/3 full of rice and sewn shut. I microwave it for about 1 1/2-2 minutes and put it over the area that hurts most. Generally with enough time, the heat will penetrate and make the blood vessels open a little more which reduces the pain. Sometimes I supplement that with ibuprofen and caffeine. I try to avoid caffeine if I can help it though. It makes my asthma worse.
I have a couple of those corn bags you put in the microwave. I’ll have to try it next time and see if it helps. Thanks!
