Today I was finally able to finish off the main upstairs bedroom. You can see my wainscot in it’s finished and painted state there. The large window is actually a set of pseudo French doors that will open onto the little terrace that is part of the original house but has been removed for the time being. Aside from making an error in trimming, I am overall very pleased with house this room turned out. Now all I have to do is finish the rest of the house and get the room decorated. 🙂
Here’s an overall shot of the house showing the progress I’ve made in other parts of the house. The kitchen is just waiting for it’s cabinets and such, while the main room downstairs just had it’s wallpaper and flooring put on. The bathroom still needs it’s flooring glued down and the middle room upstairs is really the furthest from being done. Next I plan to tackle the main room I think, where I will need to build a small landing for the doorway since the door is up a little from the floor. Speaking of the main room, I also had very good luck whitewashing the flooring for that room. Basically I took some white artists acrylic paint, and watered it down to about the consistency of heavy cream or half and half and then did a few washes of color until it built up to the coverage I wanted. Afterwards when it was dry I gave it a thin coating of lacquer just to make it slightly glossy and seal in the color.
Well, hopefully I can focus and get a lot more work done tomorrow. I’d like to get the house mainly finishes so then the furniture rehab/building can be done in little spurts while I tackle a couple other projects as well.
This is coming along soooo nicely! I love what you’ve done so far! Very inspiring!
Thanks. 🙂 I keep on working on it a little bit each day, but progress seems so slow. XP
It looks very good (I’m not so much into 1/12 scale but I like it for ideas) and its nice to see how it is progressing.
Thanks. 🙂 Sorry I didn’t approve your comment right away, for some reason I didn’t receive notification. ^^;
