The new dolly itch…

I don’t really need another doll, and in fact I should probably just buy clothes and wigs for the ones I have, considering they are all hobos, but dangit I found an awesome doll! Mudoll’s thief Ash fullset is totally drool worthy, but he is also a 61cm doll and I told myself that I should downsize to MSDs AND I already have one 60cm boy who sits in his box 24-7-365…yeah it’s sad. He was my first too.

I think the only way I could allow myself another 60cm boy is to sell my DIM Danbi who sits in his box, but I wonder what sort of price he could fetch, or if he would even sell at all since he it a older doll. I can’t really accommodate multiple 60cm dolls, and if I were to have two, I would want to have a boy and a girl. Oh man….I just know I’m going to do something irresponsible. ^^;;;;;

Kinoko Juice Kiki Dolls

I had another dollhouse wallpapering catastrophe, so I thought maybe I’d blog about something more fun, the Kinoko Juice dolls! You can tell from the pic that they are just super adorable, sugar-manga overload dollies, and I must admit I love them so. Judging from the trade show pics I’ve seen online of them they appear to be a little shorter than Blythe and seem to be able to wear some of Licca Chan’s clothes. I am just basing this off of what I have seen at a quick glance on her blog though. You can check out the artist’s blog here: http://kinokojuice.blog35.fc2.com/ to find out more about them, or just look at all of the eye candy. The blog is all in Japanese though, so if you don’t read Japanese you’ll need to use a translator or something.

I hear that these dolls sell out very quickly at conventions/doll shows, and that they are rather expensive. Apparently they run around $900+ depending on the exchange rate at the time, which makes them really pricey, though it appears that they are sold as fullsets? If they are sold as fullsets the price is a little more justified. I haven’t really read enough on the blog yet to be able to tell, but I’ll have to scour that thing one day when I’m feeling lackluster.

EDIT: So I found out that the height of these dolls are 23cm, and the yen price is 90,000. They are all made of resin and have custom eyes. When you purchase a doll you get the whole set, the clothes, the make-up, wig, eyes and so on. The artist DOES have a online shop where she announces a very very limited sale period. Don’t get too excited though, because she will not sell or ship overseas to you. The only way you can get a Kinoko Juice doll is to go to Japan and get lucky enough to be able to purchase one at a doll show, or to be living in Japan and get lucky enough to order one off of her website. I suppose there are always deputy services, but considering the very limited web sales, the likelihood of getting one is very slim.

In the end, even as cute as they are, they are probably not terribly worth the trouble. After all, you can get a full-set Mui-chan for less, and she has a nice faceplate system and lots of extra hands and feet options. That’s just my opinion though. Either way the Kiniko Juice girls are still fun to look at, at least.

My Little Brownie Arrived! :D

Yay, she’s finally here! Today I made sure to be awake for the postman, and then much to my dismay, she was not delivered! So I carted off to the post office with my pick-up ticket from yesterday, and thankfully she was there. 😀 I didn’t have much time to take pics since I had to run off and get my hair cut, but I did manage to snap off a few box opening pics.

Dollhouse Rehab, Missed Dolly and etc…

So my big news of the day is that the postman attempted to deliver my Brownie today, but sadly nobody was home and I was asleep at the time so my package was taken back to the post office. 🙁 Since my car’s battery is currently dead and charging, I begged my brother to take me to the post office in the late afternoon to see if I could pick it up yet, but sadly our mail carrier was still out on their route and so I couldn’t even pick up my little Brownie. It’s really very frustrating to know that the object you want is so darned close, but you can’t get it yet. XP

I’ve also been feeling a little lackluster today. My stomach is a little crampy, and I’m so very tired since I didn’t sleep well last night. So the progress on my dollhouse was slow. I did get most of the window frames painted though and I’ve begun assembling my first window. I ran into a few “technical difficulties” while planning my casement windows, mainly because of the design of the original window boxes on this thing which disallowed my casements to swing out. Of course I want to keep as much of the original as possible because my grandfather made it, so I had to figure out a way around that and some other problem areas. I think I’m on the right track now, but I can foresee a long slow process ahead of me since I decided to make nearly all of my windows casement windows. I know it will all be worth it in the end, but right now I have those “ugh” feelings about the whole thing. I just hope I don’t run into too many problems with the window sashing next since I’m having to use some very thin pieces of wood on it.

So, I guess my goals for tomorrow will be to complete at least one of my windows, paint the attic white, and since it should be simple, go ahead and get the attic window attached which will be non casement. Well that, and get my doll of course! Going to get to bed earlier tonight so I am sure to be up in time to get her, but I’ve also told my family to keep an eye out too. Hopefully we’ve got this covered!

New Doll on the Way!

So, I finally made my decision and I went for a Milk Brownie Haha. I really liked her serenely smiling face, and I think she will make an excellent resident for the 1/12th dollhouse I am rehabbing, whose design I find to be a little idyllic….or at least it’s definitely got a very “mori girl” vibe to it. Anyhow I ordered her from Junkyspot, and apparently she’s already packed up and ready to go! I knew Junkyspot was fast, but I wasn’t expecting to hear any news about shipping until tommorrow, er…..well I guess it’s already tommorrow based upon the time I am posting this.

On the one hand, I’m really glad I don’t have a long wait, but on the other hand, the dollhouse has been completely torn apart, and it is going to take at least all week I think to make enough reasonable headway so it will be clean enough for her to be anywhere near it. I’m not sure what to expect though in terms of the random eyes and wig that she will be coming with, so maybe I can entertain myself with acquiring wigs and eyes for her while she waits for her house.

A snowstorm will be coming in late tomorrow, and will probably be the biggest one we have had this season, so I know I will be snowed in for a couple days. I’ll make plans to get supplies to work my butt off on the house in the meantime so maybe I can at least have one room finished by the time she arrives. Hmmm, come to think of it, I hope the snowstorm doesn’t cause problems for her delivery. Well, I’m rambling, so it’s off to bed for me!
